MEGAN ANDERSON
MIDWIFE, CPM

*Q: When was the moment you knew you wanted to be a midwife?*

Growing up, I was always around the world of fertility and maternity care. When I was about 14 years old, I knew I wanted to become a Midwife. While studying for exams, I came across the word midwife. After lots of research, I realized that everything made sense. I had discovered my passion and future career!

*Q: Why did you become a midwife?*

I became a Midwife, because it’s something to which I feel very committed. I knew I wanted to provide nonjudgmental, evidence based, family centered care to women. I believe that every woman deserves to feel in control of her own body and birthing journey.

*Q: What is a birthing moment you will never forget?*

I was a new Midwifery student, in my small home town in Scotland, UK. It was the very first birth, that I ever had the privilege of being part of. The baby was born en caul. The baby was born inside the entire amniotic sac (instead of just a portion of it). It was a rare and very mesmerizing experience. I assisted, as a new life entered this world,  peacefully unaware that she had been born!

*Q: What is something you will never get tired of?*

I will never get tired of helping women in my care feel heard and respected. Having the opportunity and time to listen to a woman and provide her with the confidence, guidance and support she needs, from antenatal care, birth and postnatal care, will always be a passion of mine.

*Q: What is your favorite thing about being a midwife?*

My favorite thing about being a Midwife is witnessing the incredible strength and resilience of women while, at the same moment, they’re realizing just how incredibly powerful they are. I love empowering and educating women with the latest evidence and knowledge to make the right decision for themselves and their families.
