Candice Jenkins is the director and creator of The Addice. With the help of other passionate and talented women, Candice has realized a long-time dream of opening a modern birth center in the Houston area. She has created a birth center and midwifery practice where women receive the kind of knowledgeable and compassionate maternity care she wishes she had experienced. Candice dreams of seeing midwifery care and birth centers become mainstream; a world where midwives and the medical community work together to provide women professional, compassionate, and safe maternal healthcare.

Before her midwifery journey began, Candice was an interior designer. With her passion for design, community among women, and midwifery, Candice has created a new experience in birth. Candice is married to Brian, her biggest encourager, and together they have a full house of kids. Candice is currently in midwifery school and will complete her education in 2018.

Traci Martin is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Certified Lactation Counselor who has spent years educating and empowering women. She obtained her Master’s in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University’s Midwifery Program where she gained experience in a birth center and the Houston Medical Center. To further her dedication to changing women’s healthcare on a local and national level, she completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree with a research focus on improving the safety of birth center to hospital transfers.

Shani Daniels is a native Texan whom has had a passion for family, caregiving and a heart of service for many years. As she walked through various seasons of life and was introduced to the local birth community, she fell in love with the midwifery model of care and the heart of a Doula. Doula, coming from the Greek word meaning female servant, shares the heart of what she does. Her goal as a member of your birth team is to draw upon and encourage the strength that you already have been deeply ingrained with. Although, throughout the years and with the rise of various interventions, the capability of a woman has been blurred, Shani desires to stand beside you with heart and hands to encourage those strengths to again be illuminated. Shani works as a birth assistant at The Addice, but also holds a Labor Doula Certification with A Sacred Journey Doula Training, trained in Postpartum and Infant Care, and is currently studying to become a Certified Professional Midwife through The Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program.
